Research and Innovation workgroup
Supporting Middle Attainers A level students
Who can take part?
The Work Group is for teachers who have students starting A level who have not mastered the core concepts required, despite achieving a Grade 7 in GCSE. It is also for those who are concerned about how to support these students whilst also providing appropriate challenge for higher attainers.

What is involved?
The group will meet four times over the year, face-to-face where possible and online where needed. Teachers will be required to trial the lesson plans in their school, either themselves or via a colleague. The first session will be in December and will focus on Year 12 content only. We are aiming to cover some of the following areas: trigonometry, graphs and transformation, logarithms, and differentiation.

What will you learn?
Through a collaboration with the AMSP, the Work Group will explore and develop approaches to provide the necessary support for students arriving with grades 6 and 7 (or even grade 5), whilst maintaining the depth and content required to enable students to achieve the highest grades.

What is the cost?
The Work Group is fully funded and free of charge to schools and participants.
